Reflets dansants at MUTEK (2026)
A light-based walking experience conceived by Julie Dalbec and produced by Mandoline Hybride, blending contemporary dance, Gaspésie landscapes and digital creation.
The project first transformed the village of Marsoui, in Haute-Gaspésie, into an open-air stage during the summer of 2025. Every evening, a 25-minute video mapping trail brought to life the façades of the Marsoui church and the historic Couquerie building. The projections brought together images from the Regards Hybrides Collection, reinterpreted by filmmaker Sonya Stefan, in a visual narrative inspired by the unpredictable rhythm of a day in the Gaspésie. Guided by a poetic text written and narrated by Julie Dalbec, the trail invited audiences to rediscover the territory through four moments of the day, from dawn to night, where dance, light and landscape answered one another.
For MUTEK, the work is presented in a specially composed form of roughly 5 minutes, bringing together the Sunset and Night tableaux from the original light trail, with images drawn from the following Canadian works:

With over twenty years' experience in television, immersive content creation and branding, Julie Dalbec is a producer and art director renowned for her keen sense of innovation, creativity and project management. Passionate about digital art, she has always sought to learn, explore and push the boundaries of her craft. An executive producer in branded content, she recently turned to multimedia production, broadening her field of expertise. At the same time, she is developing her role as artistic director and curator of digital art, affirming her artistic vision. Driven by a quest for ever more creative experiences, she now holds two complementary mandates: program director of Hub Montréal, a not-to-be-missed digital art event, and artistic producer-director of Reflets dansants, a luminous journey anchored in the Gaspé village of Marsoui, where she unites her passion for creation with her deep attachment to this territory. Sonya Stefan : Sonya Stefan performed at MUTEK's 25th anniversary with Technologies of Consciousness on the project Numinous Machines and will also present it at MANIFEST:IO, the symposium for new media and electronic art in Berlin. She blends analog techniques, interwoven with TouchDesigner, to create visual landscapes, using contact printing, DIY eco-processing and macro image capture of nature. Stefan is renowned for her dance documentaries, in particular her film The Truss Arch, which received an IRIS nomination and won Best National Medium-Length Film at the Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal (RIDM) in 2021 and at Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma in 2022.
